Have you ever looked at a shadow on the sidewalk and wondered what color you would paint it? What shape is it? How does it relate to its surroundings? How do I place it on the canvas? How can I say this beautifully? Every painting I do begins with these questions.

My workshop begins with a demonstration and discussion with the artists on the first morning. Saturday and Sunday afternoon the class will work on site on the beautiful Charles River. The Boston Skyline offers all the ingredients an artist needs to gain the knowledge to paint any subject they would desire. By learning to see, build from simple geometric shapes and color, you can develop any subject you desire into a beautiful painting. All one needs to add is determination, desire and lots of practice.

Carolyn has received recognition nationally in portrait, including miniature, landscape and still life. Her work has been described as being an old master with the palette of the impressionists.
