Rokhaya Waring: Color Fields: From Luberon To Sonoma

20 Jun – 19 Jul 2008

In this Red Room exhibition, Waring captures the lush vistas of Southern France and Northern California. Sculpting the landscape through bold brushwork and vibrant color, Waring’s oils present an honest view of the scenery. The immediacy of her plein-air technique infuses her compositions with life and energy. In the sway of the olive trees and the ochre light upon the hills, viewers experience the Provencal sensibilities that tie the two regions together. Despite their cultural distinctions and geographic distance, Waring shows us just how similar in spirit they are.
