Sean Thomas: Signs of Life
16 Nov – 22 Dec 2007
Through many layers of smoke and fog emerge the dramatic landscapes of Sean Thomas’ latest body of work – "Signs of Life." Built up fastidiously in fine sheaths of paint, Thomas' skies convey the full weight of murky city atmospheres. They enclose around the massive forms of human marks on the landscape – bridges, factories, container ships – the symbols of man's industry and expansion. This exhibition features a large variety of Thomas' oils, watercolors, and mixed media pieces, focusing on the simultaneous contrast and integration of natural and artificial, ethereal and concrete, cryptic and evident.
