Patrons' Choice 2008
07 Mar – 26 Apr 2008
Patrons' Choice is one of the Copley Society of art's most anticipated annual exhibitions featuring the never-before-seen works of some of our most celebrated members. This year, artists were asked to consider the theme "City Escapes", resulting in works that reflect their individual interpretations of the theme and showcase their artistic strengths.
The jury for this show comprised of the Copley Society patrons who voted to honor a select group of artists with an invitation to exhibit in this distinctive event. Their choices range from our decorated masters to some of our recent inductees. The participating artist members provide an extraordinary range of styles and mediums.
On the evening of March 7th, votes were cast by the Copley Society's patron members to distinguish three artists for their outstanding work in Patrons' Choice 2008. The Copley Society is pleased to announce the following awards.
Patrons' Choice Award*: Sergio Roffo, Afternoon Sail, Pemaquid, ME
First Place: Beth Rundquist, Looking at Seurat - MoMA NY
Second Place: Sean Farrell, The Cherry Bowl
Third Place: Robert Maloney, Overtime
*Granted by the Alden Bryan Memorial Award for Traditional Landscape Painting in Oil
