Janis Sanders: Shore Light
21 Jun – 21 Jul 2007
Many who have encountered Sanders' work in the past have
been struck by its immediacy and power.
Describing his own working method, Sanders explains: "I paint
expressively and passionately, vigorously and muscularly, applying paint in
large gestures relative to the paint surface, with a palette knife only,
blending minimally to keep the freshness of the impression of that one
moment." Through his characteristic use
of bold, arresting colors and lively textural surfaces, Sanders conveys the
light and atmosphere of our New England shores with emotion and imagination.
