For the 21st year, The Copley Society of art (Co|So), located at 158 Newbury Street in Boston, held its major annual fundraising event: Fresh Paint.
On Sunday, April 26, from 9 am - 3 pm, more than 90 Co|So artists set-up easels throughout the city to capture some of Boston's most treasured spots. Artists were found scattered in Back Bay, the waterfront in the North End, on the Esplanade, around Fenway Park, in the Gardens and Common, and near Harvard and MIT.
Artists then brought their fresh works back to the gallery by the end of the day. For the following week, the art was displayed and silent bids were taken at Co|So's gallery. On Saturday, May 2nd, the Copley Society of art invited guests to an evening of cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, live music, and silent and live auctions of more than 90 freshly painted works of art.
Many art organizations now hold fresh paint-like auctions but Co|So's was one of the first, starting in 1988. The event brings in funds to support innovative exhibitions of emerging and established artists, lectures, scholarships, and outreach programs.
