Artist's Process

Beverly B. Seamans is known for her bronze garden figures of animals, birds, and children.  She grew up in Cohasset and as a child her interest in art was encouraged by her grandfather, John P. Benson, a marine painter.

After graduating from Milton Academy, Beverly attended Sweet Briar College for two years and then entered the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts where she studied for the next two years.

She had studied earlier with George Demetrios of Rockport and under his encouragement, she had her first bronze cast at the Nicci foundry in Rome.  Also, Walter Hancock of Lanesville has helped her to have a number of pieces carved at the marble yards of Palla in Pietrasanta, Italy.

Beverly can observe the birds of New England from her studio which is on the North Shore, and she also spends time cruising the coast of Maine.  In addition to sketches she makes on paper and with clay, she uses photographs and mounted birds loaned to her by several museums.  She now uses the Argos Foundry in Brewster, New York for all of her mold-making and bronze castings.  Here, she is able to supervise all steps in the process.
