THE ARTIST'S PROCESS

Susan Murray Stokes enjoys working from life; Susan requires a meeting with the client and the sitter to develop a schedule and to discuss the portrait's size and price.  During the first sitting, Susan and the client work on clothing, composition, pose, and other props that characterize the sitter's interests or career.  While Susan prefers to work from life, she uses photographs for compositional purposes and for children's portraits.  If a portrait is executed entirely from life, a number of sittings are generally necessary, but photographs can be used to supplement some sittings.

THE FINANCIAL AGREEMENT

A 25% deposit is required prior to commencement of the work, 50% is due half - way through the commission, and the rest upon completion of the portrait.  Cancellations will be honored with one-half of the deposit being returned to the client. For every additional figure in portrait, original price is halved and then added on.
