ARTIST'S PROCESS

George Hartley is receptive to his client's individual tastes and ideas as to background and themes (i.e. wooded landscapes, interiors, equestrian themes, sports or hobby themes).  In order to arrange for a portrait commission, George meets with the client and the sitter to work out the details of price and to schedule sittings.  At that time, the clothing and appurtenances will be decided upon, and George will be happy to provide the client with preparatory sketches if that is helpful.

Initially, George will also take photographs in order to work out composition and values.  Throughout the commission, George will check with the subject in order to verify accurate skin tones and features.

THE FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT

Half of the total price is due upon agreement and the other half upon completion of the commission.
