Artist's Process
Chris takes digital photos of the subject either at his studio or the household/place-of-work of the subject. Occasionally, Chris will accept photos provided by the client if the subject is deceased, or if the photos are special and fit to paint. Chris then selects a composition, which sometimes involves more than one photo, and modify as necessary (lighting, colors, cropping) in Photoshop. Chris then tones the canvas (often with bright acrylic paint), and draws a very skeletal and minimalistic under drawing. The last step is the painting, in oil, which he does in a single setting to convey a singular and congruous concept. The overall process takes about 3 weeks.
